Customization...
CIS proudly provides software to insurance companies with a fully customized user interface to reflect the different needs of each customer, thereby
providing each user with an appropriate subset of information specific to their needs. The mainframe screens contain information for all types of users, only a fraction of which was needed by each individual
customer. This simple change made their systems much more efficient and productive. - This illustrates any situation where users of a mainframe system can be much more productive if the user interface is tailored to
their needs.
Integration of Data from Different Sources An insurance company provides a new facility that links information from two separate mainframe
applications: Litigation and Claims. Until such a facility was available, users needed to use two separate systems and then manually correlated the information. - This is one more example to illustrate the ability
to integrate and/or correlate information from two or more sources into one workstation.
Workflow Automation A large service company, catering to property and casualty insurance, built a system that fully automates the claims
handling process. It is integrated with their mainframe based claims system for policy viewing, coverage verification, electronic reporting, automation of data entry into the mainframe, etc. This application
generated savings of several millions of dollars a year, when brought into production as a result of streamlining manpower in a paper intensive operation. This application illustrates the benefits achieved by
building extensions to mainframe systems as opposed to attempting complete rewrites.
Integration of Data from Different Sources A large consumer products company integrates three different mainframe applications to streamline
a retirement system. This system allows the processing of information and requests 60 times faster than previously. - This award winning application illustrates the enormous productivity gains that can be achieved
by integrating information and by automating many of the functions previously performed by operators.
Adding New Functionality to Legacy Systems A telephone and communications company provides an Electronic Catalog search capability in an
integrated fashion with their existing 3270 order processing system. The catalog is implemented on a local LAN server. - This example illustrates how major local functionality can be created to augment legacy
applications. It also illustrates how this technology can be used to coordinate and integrity check a client/server application with mainframe systems.
